Webinar Series: Employment I – 2024 Recent Developments

Orange County, Calif. (December 28, 2023) – Philadelphia Partner Adam E. Collyer, Fort Lauderdale Managing Partner Cheryl Wilke, Walnut Creek Partner Dominique Thomas, and Chicago Partner Mary Smigielski will present a webinar titled "Employment I – 2024 Recent Developments," on January 18, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. PT.

During this informative 60-minute CLE session, our speakers will bring you the latest in employment law developments and key cases from coast to coast, plus the important compliance requirements employers should be aware of. Moderated by Orange County Partner Esther Holm, this session will provide a comprehensive and geographical exploration of cutting-edge employment law problems tailored specifically for in-house attorneys, HR specialists, adjusters/claims analyzers, and other individuals managing employment practices liability cases.

Mr. Collyer is a member of the Labor & Employment Practice. He is an experienced litigator and counselor, representing businesses in labor and employment matters including those involving discrimination, retaliation and harassment, and wage and hour violations.

Ms. Wilke is the vice chair of Lewis Brisbois’ Labor & Employment Practice and a member of the firm’s Complex Business & Commercial Litigation Practice. She focuses in the areas of employment law as well as government contractor compliance and business litigation for mid-market and national businesses. In addition, Ms. Wilke has extensive experience handling all types of commercial litigation in federal and state courts.

Ms. Thomas is a member of the Labor & Employment Practice. She represents and counsels employers on employment and employee benefit matters. Ms. Thomas has extensive class action litigation experience and defends employers facing claims involving wage and hour violations, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination. She also has extensive experience in employee benefits litigation and has represented dozens of employers and plan sponsors in cases arising under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA).

Ms. Smigielski is the co-chair of Lewis Brisbois' BIPA Practice, the first in the nation, and head of the firm's Chicago Labor & Employment team. She has been on the cutting edge of BIPA litigation, frequently providing commentary to legal news outlets on the topic. Along with her BIPA work, Ms. Smigielski's practice involves class/collective actions and single-plaintiff employment litigation, administrative charges, nationwide counseling, training, and sensitive workplace investigations, including at the C-Suite level.

Ms. Holm is co-chair of the Professional Liability Practice, and vice-chair of the Product Liability Practice. Her specialty is Trial Practice in Professional, General, Employment, Transportation and Product Liability matters. She moderates all sessions that are part of this General Webinar series by Lewis Brisbois.
