Lewis Brisbois Transportation Practice Team to Participate in TLA Annual Conference

New York, N.Y. (April 8, 2022) – Partners Joelle Nelson, Katherine L. Vaughn, and Alecia Walters-Hinds will represent Lewis Brisbois at the upcoming Transportation Lawyers Association (TLA) Annual Conference, moderating and participating in two panels. This year's conference will be hosted at the Williamsburg Lodge in Williamsburg, Virginia from May 11-14. 

On May 12 at 10:45 a.m. ET, Ms. Vaughn will moderate a session titled “Don’t Tread on Me: How to Keep Your Constitution During Corporate Representative Depositions,” where she will be joined by Ms. Nelson and risk management professionals. They will provide an overview of best practices for preparing corporate representative witnesses, limiting the scope of questioning, and other practical tips and tricks.  

On May 14, at 8:30 a.m., Ms. Walters-Hinds will join another panel titled “The Shot Heard Round the World: When to Go on Offense as the Defendant,” where she will evaluate instances where legal defense teams can go on the offense to get out of a rut during all stages of a case, including during the pre-suit investigation, discovery phase, and in trial.

Ms. Nelson is Vice-Chair of the firm's National General Liability Practice. She has successfully handled a wide variety of claims related to transportation, catastrophic injury, construction defect claims, products liability defenses, and premises liability claims on behalf of small businesses to large national retailers. 

Ms. Vaughn is a member of the firm's General Liability Practice, and a Vice-Chair of the Transportation Practice. She devotes a significant amount of her practice to the defense of commercial trucking and automobile liability, and premises liability matters. 

Ms. Walters-Hinds is a vice-chair of the firm's General Liability Practice. She specializes in handling high exposure and catastrophic injury matters in a range of practice areas, including medical malpractice, toxic tort, construction, transportation, and more. She is also the Immediate Past President of the New York City Chapter of American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA).
