Simone McCormick to Speak at American Association of Orthodontists Annual Meeting
Los Angeles, Calif. (May 1, 2019) – Portland Partner Simone McCormick will speak at the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) 2019 Annual Session taking place May 3 – 7 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Ms. McCormick’s presentation, titled “HIPAA Compliant Office Management” will begin at 10:20 a.m. on Monday, May 6.
Ms. McCormick will review HIPAA compliance through the lens of a data breach, identifying common incident scenarios, their consequences, and how to prevent them. She will also review the legal requirements under the Privacy, Security, and Breach Notification Rules, and provide helpful tips on how to stay HIPAA compliant.
Ms. McCormick is a member of Lewis Brisbois’ Data Privacy & Cybersecurity Practice. As a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), she has represented businesses and professional clients in data incidents, which have included forensic investigations, multi-state notifications of affected clients and state Attorney General offices, the Office of Civil Rights of the Department of Health and Human Services, and other governmental entities. Ms. McCormick has also counseled clients in incident response planning, risk assessment, best practices in information privacy and data security.
