Paul Kisslinger Speaks with Law360 About Joining Lewis Brisbois as Chair of New SEC Enforcement & Litigation Practice

Washington, D.C. (January 6, 2023) - Washington, D.C. Partner Paul W. Kisslinger recently spoke with Law360 for an article titled, “Ex-SEC Asst. Chief Litigation Atty Joins Lewis Brisbois In DC,” about joining Lewis Brisbois as the chair of its newly created SEC Enforcement & Practice.

As the article explains, Mr. Kisslinger spent almost two decades with the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission, most recently serving as the agency’s assistant chief litigation counsel. He told Law360 that many of the cases he handled at the SEC related to national trends, including the dot-com boom and, in recent years, "technology-driven issues, such as high-speed trading, cryptocurrencies, and cybersecurity." He further described, "Every one of these new phases has required a great deal of analysis, strategic planning and hard work by myself and my colleagues." He added, "I believe the SEC, and the Enforcement Division in particular, was nimble and successful in grappling with each of these new types of cases, and I have no doubt that they will continue to be so going forward."

In discussing his enthusiasm around his new role, Mr. Kisslinger explained that he was looking forward to becoming involved earlier in the investigative process to help Lewis Brisbois’ clients avoid protracted litigation. Most of his work on matters for the SEC occurred near the end of the investigative process, where, as he described, "battle lines may already have been drawn."

Moreover, in reflecting upon his previous experience as a counsel to Congress' Oversight Committee, Mr. Kisslinger told Law360 that he was excited to have had the opportunity to apply his skills and knowledge of investigation to Congressional investigations. "I was fascinated by the front page matters that I was immediately assigned to, including the impeachment proceedings, a separation of powers Supreme Court case, insulin and other drug pricing investigations, and other current hot topics," he explained.
