Lewis Brisbois Enhances Toxic Tort Capabilities in Indiana With New Partner Hire

Indianapolis, Ind. (April 4, 2024) – Lewis Brisbois is pleased to announce that it has expanded its toxic tort capabilities in Indiana by adding Sue Mehringer as a Partner in its Indianapolis office and a member of its Class Action & Toxic Tort and Asbestos Litigation Practices.

Sue comes to Lewis Brisbois from regional firm Stoll Keenon Ogden PLLC. Her practice focuses on asbestos and talc litigation.

Since earning her J.D. from Indiana School of Law, Sue has garnered a stellar reputation over more than 30 years of legal practice. Sue was appointed preferred panel counsel for Indiana asbestos litigation by a major insurance carrier in the early 2000s and continues to represent multiple insureds from several insurers in asbestos and talc cases. She handles these matters through all phrases, from the filing of the complaint through pre-trial discovery, motion practice, and trial.

Always focused on the big picture, Sue keeps clients apprised not just on developments in individual cases but also on the broader landscape of asbestos and talc litigation in Indiana.

Prior to joining Lewis Brisbois, Sue had long worked with attorneys at the firm – primarily Indianapolis Partner Kari Holbrook – as co-defense counsel in several cases.

“I am thrilled to have such a deep bench here,” Sue said of Lewis Brisbois. “There are so many people, and so many resources. I love being at a firm that truly knows how asbestos litigation works, and to be in the company of so many talented attorneys who do this work.”

Sue also pointed out that Lewis Brisbois’ national reach provides opportunities to offer clients more holistic representation.

“For my Indiana-based clients, if they need representation elsewhere in the country, Lewis Brisbois has that capability,” she said. “There is a lot more potential for growth here, and I feel clients can be better represented.”

Kari Holbrook said, “We are so happy to have Sue join our Indy office to continue to grow the office and add her wealth of experience in Indiana toxic tort litigation.”

Northwest Indiana and Indianapolis Managing Partner Renee J. Mortimer likewise said, “Sue’s breadth and depth of experience in toxic tort matters will be a tremendous asset for our state and national clients.”
