George Nowotny to Present on Elder Abuse at NAWJ Conference

Los Angeles, Calif. (September 12, 2019) – Los Angeles Partner George Nowotny will join a panel as the designated defense trial attorney at the National Association of Women Judges’ (NAWJ) 41st Annual Conference taking place October 15-19 at the Omni Los Angeles Hotel. Mr. Nowotny’s panel session, titled “Protecting our Elders: Problems and Solutions for Elder Abuse,” will take place on October 16 at 2:00 p.m.

During the session, Mr. Nowotny and his fellow panelists will discuss how aging affects our brains, the emotional responses from elder people, and the issues that arise when strangers and relatives, from insurance companies to children, take advantage of the elderly. The presentation will end with a discussion on California’s legislative effort to provide remedies for such elder abuse.

The NAWJ’s mission is to promote the judicial role of protecting the rights of individuals through strong, committed, and diverse judicial leadership. This year’s conference is titled “City of Dreams, City of Angels: A Century of Women’s Progress.”

Mr. Nowotny is chair of Lewis Brisbois’ Elder Law Practice and co-chair of its National Healthcare Practice.
