New York, N.Y. (August 28, 2020) - New York Partner Frank J. Cerza was recently appointed to the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) New Retail Lease Model 2020 Task Force. In this role, Mr. Cerza and his team will draft a new model retail lease that will address, among other things, COVID-19 issues and the ever-changing commercial leasing landscape.

Founded in 1957, ICSC seeks to ensure that the retail and real estate industry is recognized for the significant role that it plays in the social, civic, and economic vibrancy of global communities. Retail and real estate professionals comprise ICSC’s membership and regularly engage in local, regional, and national events to further their professional development and ICSC’s objectives.

Mr. Cerza serves as chair of Lewis Brisbois’ Italy Practice and as vice-chair of its Commercial Lending Practice. He is also a member of the firm's COVID-19: Contracts & Force Majeure team, and has previously written about the impact of COVID-19 on the potential application of force majeure, frustration of purpose, and impossibility of performance defenses in relation to retail leases. Mr. Cerza focuses his practice on corporate and real estate business transactions and commercial finance, representing American and Italian companies and individuals in cross-border transactions.
