Data Privacy Partners to Present Digital Insights Webinar on Cybersecurity Legislation in 2022

New York, N.Y. (November 15, 2022) – Lewis Brisbois Partners Alyssa R. Watzman, Mary A. Smigielski, Sean B. Hoar and Jon P. Kardassakis will present the next Digital Insights webinar, "Cybersecurity - A Review of 2022 and Predictions for 2023," on Tuesday, December 13 at 12:00 p.m. ET.

This informative 60-minute session will cover significant events, legislation, and litigation from the past year in data privacy and cybersecurity. The speakers will discuss principles of risk management, and provide a review of global data privacy incidents in 2022, including malicious activity like ransomware and social engineering. They will also highlight litigation involving domestic data privacy laws, BIPA, and data breach-related class action lawsuits. CLE credits are available.

Mr. Hoar is chair of Lewis Brisbois' Data Privacy & Cybersecurity Practice. He has extensive experience managing responses to digital crises and effectively marshaling resources to contain and remediate information security incidents. He is a frequent speaker and writer on emerging cybersecurity issues and regular contributor to Lewis Brisbois' Digital Insights blog

Mr. Kardassakis is a chair of Lewis Brisbois’ Class Action & Mass Tort Practice and has more than 35 years of experience as a trial attorney. He also has experience handling commercial and business litigation, including, matters involving allegations of libel, slander, trade libel, disparagement, violation of intellectual property rights, fraud, negligent misrepresentation, and breach of contract claims.

Ms. Watzman is a vice chair of the Data Privacy & Cybersecurity Practice, and a member of the Government Investigations Practice. She has significant experience representing and advising multinational corporations, boards of directors, board committees, and individuals in connection with regulatory enforcement actions, government and internal investigations, whistleblower complaints, and compliance matters.

Ms. Smigielski is a partner in the Chicago office of Lewis Brisbois, head of the Labor & Employment Practice in Chicago, and Co-Chair of the firm’s Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA) practice group. Ms. Smigielski handles class/collective actions and single-plaintiff employment litigation, administrative charges, nationwide counseling, training, and sensitive workplace investigations, including at the C-Suite level.
