Anthony Sonnett, James Brooks Recognized in Top Verdict List

Los Angeles Partners Anthony Sonnett and James Brooks had a defense verdict listed as one of Courtroom View Network’s “Top 10 Most Impressive Defense Verdicts of 2017.”

The family of a deceased U.S. Navy sailor sought $5.4 million in damages for their claims that potholes and allegedly unsafe railroad tracks led to the sailor's motorcycle accident. We argued that the accident was instead caused by the high speeds at which the sailor was driving the motorcycle and that the tracks met state and federal inspection requirements.

Following a two-week trial, the jury deliberated for 30 minutes before determining that the city of San Diego and BNSF Railway Co. were not responsible for the sailor’s death.
