Dave Young is an associate in the Denver office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of its Data Privacy and Cybersecurity practice. Dave is knowledgeable about both state and federal regulations governing data privacy and cybersecurity. He is credentialed under the Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US) through the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). He also completed a certificate program focused on European data privacy law through the London School of Economics.
Prior to joining Lewis Brisbois, Dave worked as a military intelligence officer where he became familiar with information security best practices. Dave deployed multiple times with special operations units to Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria. He also worked as an intelligence analyst in South Korea for three years.
Dave earned his J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. During law school, Dave was a technical editor for the Denver Journal of International Law and Policy. Dave also volunteered extensively with Colorado Legal Services where he provided legal assistance to low-income clients on a variety of civil matters. He was awarded the Public Good Distinction in recognition for his work in legal aid.
Outside of work, Dave remains engaged with his local community. He volunteers with the Veterans of Foreign Wars where he assists veterans in crisis navigate available non-profit resources in the Colorado Springs area. He is also an adjunct instructor at the University of Colorado where he teaches Global Politics in the Political Science Department.
