5-Lawyer Corporate Team Joins Lewis Brisbois in Sacramento, San Francisco

Sacramento, California (June 5, 2017) – Lewis Brisbois is pleased to welcome a five-lawyer corporate team led by Partner Scott E. Bartel to its Sacramento and San Francisco offices.

Bartel is joined at Lewis Brisbois by Partners Eric J. Stiff, John Yung, Deborah Seo, and Associate Yawen “Alice” Du, who together have considerable experience representing corporations and financial institutions in a variety of corporate matters.

“We’re very happy to welcome Scott and his team to Lewis Brisbois,” said Los Angeles Managing Partner Timothy Graves, speaking on behalf of Lewis Brisbois’ Management Committee. “The domestic and international experience they bring to the firm will boost our corporate presence in California, which is consistent with the momentum we are building elsewhere in the firm.”

Bartel and his team are the latest addition to Lewis Brisbois’ Corporate Practice, which has brought on a number of recent corporate hires throughout the country, including in Florida, Colorado, and Texas.

“We are excited about the added depth Scott’s group brings to the firm, including their private and public securities and corporate work, their unique experience representing foreign companies accessing U.S. financial markets, as well as their healthcare transactions expertise,” said Corporate Practice Chair Michael Platner.

Bartel has acquired extensive experience representing clients in matters including corporate finance, public and private offerings, corporate governance and reorganization, acquisitions, divestitures, securities transactions, and litigation. He has also represented a number of Chinese domestic companies with their capital raising efforts and acquisitions in the United States.

“We are very excited to join the Lewis Brisbois team. Their culture of collegiality and teamwork fits well with our group. We bring to the firm decades of experience in complex domestic and international business transactions, cross-border mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, and healthcare-related transactions which we believe complement the firm’s nationally recognized Corporate Practice,” Bartel said.

Partner Eric J. Stiff also brings an extensive background in handling a variety of matters for privately held and publicly traded companies, as well as experience advising healthcare organizations on a broad array of transactional and regulatory matters.

In addition to his work on corporate, securities, and international business matters, Partner John P. Yung’s practice includes advising Chinese companies seeking to access U.S. capital markets, while Partner Deborah K. Seo represents U.S. and international public and privately held companies in financings, securities law compliance, mergers and acquisitions transactions, and strategic and general corporate matters.

John Poulos, Managing Partner of the Sacramento office, added, “This is a very cohesive team whose style is very humble and straightforward. They are going to fit in well at the Sacramento office and the firm as a whole.”
