Joseph Finkel is a partner in the Walnut Creek office of Lewis Brisbois who has been defending hospitals, clinics, physicians and other healthcare providers in medical malpractice claims for over 25 years.  His experience includes defending health care providers in complex malpractice claims involving catastrophic injuries and wrongful death allegations. He has handled all aspects of litigating such claims, from law and motion through discovery and trial. Mr. Finkel has also defended and tried dependent adult abuse claims brought against hospitals and long-term care facilities.

Mr. Finkel defends hospitals and clinics in general personal injury claims, including, alleged assaults, slip & falls and other accidents as well. He provides counsel to hospitals, clinics and their staff who are asked to testify or provide evidence as third-party witness in civil and criminal actions. 

Mr. Finkel represents physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers with board investigations brought by the Medical Board of California , the Board of Registered Nursing and other State agencies.

Finally, Mr. Finkel has argued successfully on behalf of his clients before California Court of Appeals, U.S. District Courts in California, and U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
