Rachel Bekerman is a partner in the Los Angeles office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the Medical Malpractice and Long-Term Care Practices.
Rachel has defended all manner of health care professionals, including physicians, dentists, optometrists, pharmacists, physical therapists, nurses, medical and nursing directors, and health care facility administrators in malpractice matters. She also defends healthcare institutions, including hospitals, medical practices, hospice care providers, and short- and long-term care facilities. Rachel additionally has a background in general liability matters and has represented commercial and residential property owners, general contractors, subcontractors, individuals, and insurers in personal injury and wrongful death matters.
Since the start of her legal career, Rachel has focused her practice on civil defense litigation. She works in tandem with her clients to develop risk management and litigation strategies that best suit their needs and desired outcomes. She is skilled in handling depositions, mediations, settlement negotiations and arbitrations.
Rachel hails from the East Coast. Before moving to Los Angeles, she practiced at a prominent regional civil litigation firm, working in both the firm's Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and northern New Jersey offices.
Rachel graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh. She subsequently received her Juris Doctor from the Thomas R. Kline School of Law at Drexel University, which she attended on a full inaugural scholarship. While in law school, Rachel was an editor of the Drexel Law Review and served as a legal fellow of the Marshall Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project. She also enjoyed internships with civil litigation firms, as well as the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office and Delaware County District Attorney’s Office.
