Sean Hoar Contributes to NetDiligence Cybercrime Task Force Report
(June 11, 2019) – Portland Partner and Chair of Lewis Brisbois’ Data Privacy & Cybersecurity Practice Sean B. Hoar recently contributed to a new report as part of his involvement with the Insurance Industry Cybercrime Task Force (IICTF), a specialized think tank sponsored by NetDiligence. The report, titled “The Cybercrime Explosion,” reviews the top business sectors susceptible to criminal cyberattacks, as well as the top causes of loss and the costs associated with these kinds of attacks.
As NetDiligence notes in their press release, “due to the increasing number of companies purchasing cyber insurance policies, the cyber insurance industry is now engaged in thousands of cybercrime incidents each year,” which means this industry is “uniquely positioned to provide valuable insight into cybersecurity threats.”
NetDiligence is a leading provider of cyber risk readiness and response services, and a frequent collaborator with Lewis Brisbois’ Data Privacy & Cybersecurity Team. On June 14, two partners from that team, Richard W. Goldberg and Elizabeth R. Dill, will speak at the NetDiligence Cyber Risk Summit in Philadelphia.
Mr. Hoar has extensive experience managing responses to digital crises and previously served as the lead cyber attorney for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Oregon, where he was the point of contact for the FBI, Secret Service, and Homeland Security in system intrusions and other digital crime emergencies. He is a frequent speaker and author on cybersecurity topics and a regular contributor to Lewis Brisbois’ Digital Insights blog.
