Partner Joshua Jemal Presents on New Tech in the Construction Industry

October 3, 2018— New York Partner Joshua Jemal recently presented at the 2018 CLM Construction Conference in Chicago on the intersection of new technology and the construction industry. Titled “Emerging Technology and Construction: Virtual Reality, Wearable Technology, Artificial Intelligence and More”, the presentation was prepared in conjunction with Mr. Jemal’s fellow general liability colleagues, Partner Darrell J. Whiteley and Associate Dominique Romano, and was delivered to a crowd of approximately 500 insurance and construction industry professionals.

The talk covered various technological applications that are rapidly changing the construction industry. For example, technology companies are currently designing and testing wearable devices that will revolutionize worker safety by tracking work patterns and encouraging best practices. In addition, the industry data gathered from large-scale deployment of these devices will allow for improved workplace safety, ergonomic optimization, and workforce progress and efficiency. Critically, for construction companies, insurers (both claims and underwriting) and litigators, this information will present a sea-change in the investigation process and the ability to reconstruct and measure an accident, allowing investigators to trace back and identify the universe of witnesses to the accident, among other things.

For more information on the impact of new technology on the construction, insurance, and legal industries, reach out to Mr. Jemal, Mr. Whiteley, or Ms. Romano directly.
