Hussain Turk to Moderate Panel at Thomson Reuters LGBTQ Leadership Conference

Orange County, Calif. (May 9, 2022) – Orange County Associate Hussain Turk will moderate a panel on LGBTQ civil rights at the upcoming Thomson Reuters “Outspoken West 2022” Leadership Conference, hosted at the Hyatt Regency in Bellevue on June 2 at 4:00 p.m. PT.

In this informative 60-minute session titled “Original Sin: Religiosity, Same-Sex Desire & Institutionalized Homophobia,” Mr. Turk will lead a discussion on LGBTQ rights throughout history, and evolving policy and social norms. This panel includes Rabbi Allison Flash, Reverend Jermell Witherspoon, and Author Matthias Roberts.

Mr. Turk is a member of the Labor & Employment Practice. He is a passionate litigator and advocate, with substantial experience representing clients in labor and employment law disputes. Mr. Turk began his legal career providing direct aid to underserved communities at the Los Angeles HIV Law & Policy Project (LA HLPP), where he served as Staff Attorney and eventually as LA HLPP's Acting Director.

In addition to his labor and employment practice, Mr. Turk provides pro bono representation to LGBTQ refugees seeking defensive asylum in removal proceedings. He is a volunteer panel attorney with the AIDS Legal Services Project of the Los Angeles County Bar Association.
