Rachel S. Mahoney is an associate in the Chicago office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the Labor & Employment Practice. Ms. Mahoney represents employers in all aspects of business and employment-related matters in state and federal courts, as well as before state agencies. Ms. Mahoney is also experienced in commercial litigation, correctional health care defense, and medical malpractice. 

Ms. Mahoney’s practice focuses on the defense of employers in individual and multi-plaintiff class action lawsuits against claims of harassment, discrimination, wrongful termination, wage and hour violations, and retaliation. Moreover, she provides her clients employment advice and counsel as it relates to employment practices, policies, and procedures. Ms. Mahoney’s commercial litigation specialties include drafting and advising clients on matters involving breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, restrictive covenants, and settlement agreements. 

Ms. Mahoney received her Bachelor of Arts from Saint Louis University in 2015. While attending Saint Louis University, Ms. Mahoney was the President of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. In 2018, Ms. Mahoney received her Juris Doctorate from Valparaiso School of Law. While attending Valparaiso School of Law, Ms. Mahoney was a member of the International Moot Court Competition Team, where she finished as a Quarterfinalist in the Midwest Regional Rounds of the 2017 International Phillip C. Jessup Competition. During Ms. Mahoney’s time in law school, she was an Assistant Professor for over a hundred first year Law Students, received the highest grade distinction in the area of Criminal Procedure, and was awarded Course and consecutive Semester Honors. 

In Ms. Mahoney’s final year of law school, she received her 7-11 license in Illinois and her 2.1 license in Indiana, which she used to gain valuable courtroom experience while in law school. In Illinois, she performed pro bono work at the Chicago Legal Clinic-Chancery Division, where Ms. Mahoney provided advice on mortgage foreclosure, adult and child name changes, and administrative appeals. In Indiana, Ms. Mahoney provided pro bono services at the Valparaiso Criminal Clinic, where she represented and advised low income clients on criminal defense matters. 

Ms. Mahoney is admitted to practice law in the State of Illinois and is a member of the Chicago Bar Association.
