Manpreet (Monica) Uppal-Gupta

Associate

Monica Uppal-Gupta is an associate in the Fort Lauderdale office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the General Liability and Government Investigations & White-Collar Defense Practices. Recently, Monica was named 2023 Florida Rising Stars. 

Monica began her career as a felony prosecutor for the State of Florida in Miami’s Eleventh Judicial Circuit, where she served as trial counsel and worked on a variety of felony criminal matters. After her career at the State and prior to joining Lewis Brisbois, Monica worked as a litigator at a prominent Miami firm, where she handled Complex Commercial Litigation cases. 

Monica earned her Juris Doctorate from Fordham University School of Law in New York City, where she focused her studies in the areas of Litigation and Dispute Resolution, and International Law. During law school, she interned for the Honorable Judge Joseph F. Bianco of the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York, and the Nationwide ACLU – Racial Justice Program. She was also a part of the International Law Journal and Trial Team, and a member of the Walter Leitner International Human Rights Clinic. In her spare time, Monica volunteered for the International Refugee Assistance Project. Upon graduation, Monica was awarded the Archibald R. Murray Public Service Award with a summa cum laude distinction.
