New York, N.Y. (September 15, 2020) – New York Managing Partner Gregory S. Katz will join a panel for Advisen’s Big Nasty Claims @ Home Virtual Conference on September 16 at 3:00 p.m. ET. Titled “Pulling the Pin: Mitigating the Risk of Social Inflation,” the discussion will cover the trends driving social inflation for insurers.

Negative feelings toward corporations, higher jury verdicts, and a rapid rise in litigation financing have increased the risk of social inflation for companies, and are further complicated by a number of socioeconomic and geopolitical factors. Mr. Katz and his fellow panelists will look at Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG) and the data illustrating the effects of social inflation, and will discuss ways to reach better outcomes for the involved parties.

The conference’s agenda will explore loss trends and other claims insights using Advisen’s data, and will help companies prepare for mass tort and class action situations. New York Partner Ellen H. Greiper is a member of the Advisory Board for this conference, Advisen’s first all-female conference advisory board, and helped to plan and develop this conference’s agenda.

Mr. Katz is the chair of Lewis Brisbois’ General Liability and Transportation Practices, and has over 20 years of experience defending cases in state and federal courts. He also oversees the firm’s 24/7 Rapid Response On Call Transportation Team and its National Trial Practice Team.
