Los Angeles, Calif. (May 30, 2023) - Los Angeles Partners Craig Holden and Robert Collins recently secured a favorable jury verdict in a trade secret matter on behalf of a dental management business. In this case, Lewis Brisbois’ client filed suit against a dentist and a marketing manager who previously worked for the client’s company, alleging breach of contract as well as theft of marketing trade secrets and other confidential information. Specifically, the marketing manager stole a client list from the dental management business for use at the dentist’s new, competing practice. To avoid detection of the theft, the defendants used fake names and other false information, and routed payments through a third-party company.

Prior to the trial, an injunction was awarded against the defendants barring the use of the trade secrets, and allowing the recovery of the trade secrets from the defendants’ computer devices and the dentist’s computer server. The verdict for compensatory damages with prejudgment interest totals over $7 million.
