Alea K. Roberts is an associate in the New York office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the General Liability Practice. Ms. Roberts specializes in Insurance Defense for premises liability, tractor trailer trucking accidents, New York Labor Law 200, §240 and §240(6), medical malpractice and nursing home matters in New York Supreme Court and the Appellate Division. 

Ms. Roberts also successfully defended a breach of contract claim regarding trading of a commodities account in the Commercial Division of the New York Supreme Court, New York County where the damages in question were $350,000 alongside Lewis Brisbois partner, Matthew Beyer. Ms. Roberts is dedicated to advocating for her clients through all stages of litigation to ensure that they obtain the relief to which they are entitled.

Prior to joining Lewis Brisbois, Ms. Roberts was an Associate at Gair, Gair, Conason where she specialized in plaintiff’s personal injury, medical malpractice, New York Labor Law 200, §240 and §240(6) actions, false arrest and malicious prosecution and general negligence. 

Alea began her career as an Agency Attorney Interne with the New York City Administration of Children’s Services, Family Court Legal Services. There, she handled Family Court Act Article 10 child neglect matters in New York Supreme Court and the Appellate Division.

 As the first lawyer in her family, Alea recognizes the responsibility that she has to future black attorneys, to mentor, support, and uplift them on their legal journeys. When she isn’t advocating for clients, she serves as the secretary on the Executive Board of Black JD, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing law school preparatory resources and ensuring readiness for black and brown students committed to obtaining a Juris Doctor.

Alea received her bachelor’s degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University, cum laude in 2016 and earned her Juris Doctor from New York Law School, Evening Division in 2020.
