Nashville Entertainment Team Closes Three Significant Deals on Behalf of Country Music Clients

Nashville Partner Matt Cottingham and Associate Austin Wells recently closed three separate, significant deals on behalf of three talented country music clients. 

Nashville, Tenn. (April 26, 2023) – Nashville Partner Matt Cottingham and Associate Austin Wells recently closed three separate, significant deals on behalf of three talented country music clients. 

In the first matter, Mr. Cottingham represented Nashville-based songwriter, producer, mixer, and engineer Austin Shawn in his global publishing deal with Warner Chappell Music. As described in a Music Row article about the deal, Mr. Shawn’s songs have spent a total of 43 consecutive weeks on the Billboard Country Producer Charts – with 11 consecutive weeks at number one – while also spending 36 consecutive weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 Producer Charts.  

Mr. Cottingham also recently closed a record deal with River House Artists/Warner Music Nashville on behalf of rising country music star Austin Snell. As reported by Music Row, Mr. Snell is the first country artist to be selected as part of SiriusXM’s Artist Accelerator program, which seeks to develop new artists by exposing them to the combined audiences of the company’s subscription service, SiriusXM, and its streaming service, Pandora. 

In a third matter, Mr. Wells represented artist and songwriter Brooke Lee in her worldwide publishing deal with Spirit Music Nashville/2 Mix Music. As a Music Row article on the deal explains, Ms. Lee started performing as a teenager and won the title of “Best Female Country Vocalist Queen City” in 2020 and 2021. Then, at the age of 21, she began performing in various locations around the world. 

Mr. Cottingham is a member of Lewis Brisbois’ Entertainment, Media, & Sports Practice, where he focuses on entertainment, intellectual property and business law matters. Mr. Cottingham represents individuals and companies in the entertainment industry, providing experienced guidance to recording artists, songwriters, record producers, independent music publishers, new media companies and independent record labels.

He represents a diverse group of creators, entertainers, musicians, and entrepreneurs in connection with a variety of transactions, including recording agreements, publishing agreements, endorsement agreements, and production agreements.
