Mary Smigielski and Tricia Bellich to Speak at CLM Work Comp, Casualty & Risk Management Conference

Chicago Partner Mary A. Smigielski and Northwest Indiana Partner Tricia Bellich will speak at the upcoming Claims and Litigation Management Alliance (CLM) Work Comp, Casualty & Risk Management Conference, hosted at the Westin hotel in Chicago on May 18.

Chicago, Ill. (April 18, 2023) – Chicago Partner Mary A. Smigielski and Northwest Indiana Partner Tricia Bellich will speak at the upcoming Claims and Litigation Management Alliance (CLM) Work Comp, Casualty & Risk Management Conference, hosted at the Westin hotel in Chicago on May 18.

Ms. Bellich’s session, titled “Crash Course: Increasing Vehicular Collisions in a Post-Pandemic World,” will begin at 9:45 a.m. CT, and will provide an analysis of potential causes for this increase, discuss ways to mitigate current risks, and offer programs/ideas to get out in front of these collisions. 

Ms. Smigielski’s session, titled “In It to Win It: Effectively Dealing with Plaintiff Side Counsel in Employment Law Matters,” will begin at 1:45 p.m. CT, and will explore practical guidance/tips for effectively dealing with opposing counsel in employment law matters, with an eye toward achieving the best possible results for defendants/insured.

Ms. Bellich is a member of the Workers' Compensation and General Liability Practices. She has a national presence in the field of Worker's Compensation serving as a trainer, speaker, and mentor for numerous individuals in this practice area. She uses her business acumen to counsel smaller local companies to large corporations on best practices in claims management, return to work issues and the importance of an inclusive, positive culture in the workplace.

Ms. Smigielski is the co-chair of Lewis Brisbois' BIPA Practice, the first in the nation, and head of the firm's Chicago Labor & Employment team. She has been on the cutting edge of BIPA litigation, frequently providing commentary to legal news outlets on the topic. Along with her BIPA work, Ms. Smigielski's practice involves class/collective actions and single-plaintiff employment litigation, administrative charges, nationwide counseling, training, and sensitive workplace investigations, including at the C-Suite level.
