Matthew J. McDonnell is an associate in the Denver office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the Real Estate & Land Use and Banking & Finance Practices. He is experienced in in both litigation and transactional work related to real estate matters, representing financial institutions, quasi-governmental entities, servicers, business owners and individuals.

Matthew began his career developing title chain solutions for clients in the natural gas industry and then transitioned to transactional working representing institutional clients in the sale of bank-owned properties and title resolution. He worked closely with brokers, servicers and third party vendors to successfully close over seven hundred residential properties during that time.

Recently, Matthew worked at a regional law firm in Denver, Colorado, focusing on real estate litigation. His clients included loan servicers, institutional lenders and investors, business owners, and individuals. During that time, Matthew successfully defended against borrower RESPA, TILA, and FDCPA claims, advised his clients on regulatory matters involving those statutes, as well as prosecuted and defended numerous actions in the Colorado district courts and U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado. Matthew also worked as managing counsel advising local counsel nationwide on litigation matters ranging from bankruptcies, contested foreclosures, and affirmative borrower suits.

When he is not in the office, Matthew enjoys exploring Colorado with his partner, young child and dog. In his free time, you can find him paddle boarding, running, swimming, or playing volleyball in a park around the metro area.
