Atlanta Partner Chris Collier, who recently joined Lewis Brisbois’ Toxic Tort & Environmental Litigation, Products Liability, General Liability, and Transportation Practices, spoke to Law360 about his move to the firm.

Atlanta, Ga. (May 12, 2022) - Atlanta Partner Chris Collier, who recently joined Lewis Brisbois' Toxic Tort & Environmental Litigation, Products Liability, General Liability, and Transportation Practices, spoke to Law360 about his move to the firm.

As the Law360 article describes, Mr. Collier has more than two decades of experience advising companies on toxic tort matters, including serving as litigation and environmental counsel for a United States Class I railroad.

Mr. Collier told Law360, "I'm really excited about this new opportunity. I think Lewis Brisbois offers a superior platform in terms of its geographic location in a lot of the hot spots where my clients have cases currently or will likely have cases in the future." In addition, Mr. Collier noted that joining Lewis Brisbois felt like a reunion because he has worked with the firm’s attorneys on toxic tort cases for several years.

In explaining that the focus of his toxic tort practice involves working on matters in the Midwest and Northeast, as well as on the West Coast, Mr. Collier said, “I think those toxic tort — including the chemical exposure — cases stand a real opportunity for growth in this larger footprint. By that I mean, I might represent a company in only one or two jurisdictions at this point in time, but based on the strength of the bench that we have here at Lewis Brisbois, I think we could expand that representation into other markets that haven't traditionally been associated with those particular clients."

Moreover, Mr. Collier explained that serving as in-house counsel for a Class I railroad “provided a different lens to look at these cases through — that it's not always necessarily about winning or losing the litigation, that you have to think about the … business partner on the other side of it.” He noted, “While you may be able to go out and win the lawsuit, maybe that's not the best result for the client.”
