Steven Beer Creates, Executive Produces "Reading Rainbow Live"

New York Partner Steven Beer has created and is executive producing an updated version of the beloved educational show, "Reading Rainbow," called "Reading Rainbow Live." The new series will air in early 2022.

New York, N.Y. (December 8, 2021) - New York Partner Steven Beer has created and is executive producing an updated version of the beloved educational show, "Reading Rainbow," called "Reading Rainbow Live." The new series will air in early 2022.

"Reading Rainbow Live," which will be hosted by a diverse comedic troupe called "The Rainbows," will feature a virtual platform through which viewers can interact with the hosts. In addition to highlighting a "book of the day," the series will include various themes to engage young viewers, as well as music, dance parties, and field trips.

In a news release regarding the creation of "Reading Rainbow Live," Mr. Beer noted, "The COVID quarantine presented challenges for parents with young children in particular. Without playgrounds, play groups, or early childhood programs, many parents struggled to keep their kids engaged in learning activities. Reading Rainbow Live was developed as a ‘life-saver’ response to this challenge.”

The creation of "Reading Rainbow Live" has been widely covered in the media by outlets including CBS NewsThe Wrap, and Spectrum NY1 News. The original "Reading Rainbow," which aired between 1983 and 2006 on PBS, was hosted by actor LeVar Burton. The show won several awards, including a Peabody, nine Parents’ Choice awards, and 26 Emmys.
