Thomas Cortazzo Elected President of Westbank Business & Industry Association

New Orleans Administrative Partner Thomas J. Cortazzo was recently elected President of the Westbank Business & Industry Association (WBIA), an organization of industry and businesses throughout southeast Louisiana on the west bank of the Mississippi River. He will be installed to the position on January 6, 2022, and will serve a one-year term.

New Orleans, La. (November 22, 2021) – New Orleans Administrative Partner Thomas J. Cortazzo was recently elected President of the Westbank Business & Industry Association (WBIA), an organization of industry and businesses throughout southeast Louisiana on the west bank of the Mississippi River. He will be installed to the position on January 6, 2022, and will serve a one-year term.

Mr. Cortazzo stated, “I am happy to serve this active organization representing the Westbank business community. It is a group which has a place at the table where many significant decisions are made affecting Westbank businesses and the larger community. The WBIA brings people together in a constructive way, including local and state elected officials, business interests, and other stakeholders.”

Focused on the business community’s interests, the WBIA has played a key role in many local projects for many years, including the construction of the Harvey Tunnel, the elevated West Bank Expressway, the Algiers Canal, Hurricane protection projects along the Harvey Canal, the selection of commissioners for the Port of New Orleans, and other decisions on economic development in Westbank Parishes. 

Mr. Cortazzo is a member of the Complex Business & Commercial Litigation Practice. For more than 30 years, he has litigated cases ranging from various forms of commercial litigation, to toxic tort and asbestos cases, to personal injury and other insurance defense matters, in state, federal, and appellate courts in Louisiana. He is a certified mediator through the American Arbitration Association (AAA) and has helped clients resolve matters through arbitration and mediation.
