Steven Beer Brokers WarnerMedia Film Acquisition Deal on Behalf of Director Talia Lugacy, Producer Rosario Dawson

New York Partner and a National Chair of Lewis Brisbois’ Entertainment, Media & Sports Practice Steven C. Beer recently represented director Talia Lugacy and executive producer Rosario Dawson in the acquisition of their film "This Is Not a War Story" by WarnerMedia OneFifty and HBO Max. 

New York, N.Y. (November 2, 2021) - New York Partner and a National Chair of Lewis Brisbois’ Entertainment, Media & Sports Practice Steven C. Beer recently represented director Talia Lugacy and executive producer Rosario Dawson in the acquisition of their film "This Is Not a War Story" by WarnerMedia OneFifty and HBO Max. The film features a group of PTSD-impacted combat veterans in New York whose creative works draw them to one another. The film will be available for streaming on HBO Max on November 3. 

As reported in Variety, "This Is Not a War Story" was the recipient of a New York Foundation for the Arts grant and has been screened at several festivals - including Cinequest, Woods Hole, and San Francisco Independent - where it won the audience award for best narrative feature. Mr. Beer will have a co-executive producer credit on the film.

Speaking of the project, Mr. Beer said, "I would like give kudos to filmmaker and actress Talia Lugacy and executive producer Rosario Dawson for this courageous and intimate portrait of our veterans seeking to heal their emotional wounds suffered through combat."
