New York, N.Y. (September 20, 2021) – New York Partner Karen L. Campbell will join a virtual panel hosted by the New York County Lawyers Association (NYCLA), on conducting a voir dire. The webinar will take place on September 30 at 5:15 p.m. ET.

In this 3-hour interactive session, Ms. Campbell and her co-panelists will discuss how legal professionals can question potential jurors, potential red flags to look for, and the differences and similarities in the jury selection process in New York and California. The panel will also share their thoughts on when attorneys should challenge potential jurors or dismiss them for cause while being mindful of the need for a diverse and non-biased jury panel. CLE credits will be available.

Voir dire refers to the process through which potential jurors are questioned by either judges or lawyers to determine their suitability for jury service, and the preliminary questioning of expert witnesses to determine their competence to testify.

NYCLA is a long-standing bar association that seeks to make tangible reforms in the American legal system, and has played an active role in legal developments and public policy.

Ms. Campbell is a chair of Lewis Brisbois' General Liability Practice and a co-chair of its Diversity & Inclusion Committee. With 30 years of experience as a trial attorney, Ms. Campbell maintains a broad general liability and trial practice that includes defending hotel industry clients against a variety of claims and litigating matters under the New York and New Jersey Child Victims Acts.
