Lewis Brisbois Grows Workers' Compensation Capabilities In North Carolina with New Partner Hire

Lewis Brisbois is pleased to welcome Rod Philip Sherman to its Charlotte office as a partner in its Workers’ Compensation Practice. In his role at Lewis Brisbois, Mr. Sherman will focus his practice on Workers’ Compensation defense matters.

Charlotte, N.C. (July 22, 2021) – Lewis Brisbois is pleased to welcome Rod Philip Sherman to its Charlotte office as a partner in its Workers’ Compensation Practice. Mr. Sherman, who is a North Carolina Board Certified Specialist in Workers’ Compensation Law, joins Lewis Brisbois from a regional insurance defense firm where he practiced for 15 years. In his role at Lewis Brisbois, Mr. Sherman will focus his practice on Workers’ Compensation defense matters. Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Sherman served as an Assistant District Attorney for four years in the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Office. 

Charlotte Managing Partner Kevin Parsons expressed enthusiasm about Mr. Sherman’s arrival, noting, “We are thrilled that Mr. Sherman has joined the team. His extensive background and deep experience will allow Lewis Brisbois to continue to strengthen its Workers’ Compensation practice in North Carolina, which is a jurisdiction where a significant amount of Workers’ Compensation-related activity occurs.” 

Likewise, Mr. Sherman explained, “I am happy to have joined Lewis Brisbois’ Workers’ Compensation team in North Carolina, and I look forward to helping Lewis Brisbois continue to gain a foothold in this important jurisdiction. I also look forward to applying my experience on the claims side to the defense work that Lewis Brisbois handles, as well as providing clients with the benefit of the firm’s strong national platform.” 

Outside of his practice, Mr. Sherman is an active member of the North Carolina Bar Association, the Mecklenburg County Bar Association, and the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys. He also enjoys participating in a variety of outdoor activities, including kayaking and hiking in the North Carolina mountains with his wife and Australian Shepherd, Jax. Additionally, Mr. Sherman often can be found watching his daughter play volleyball and his son play baseball. 

A graduate of Toledo College of Law, Mr. Sherman received his undergraduate degree from Ohio University. He is admitted to practice in North Carolina.
