Los Angeles, Calif. (June 8, 2021) - Los Angeles Associate Heather E. Horn will join a free webinar on June 10, hosted by Pete Fowler Construction Services, to discuss the challenges faced by diverse professionals in the legal, construction, and insurance industries. Titled "Diversity In Law, Construction, & Insurance: The Emotional Tax of Picking Your Battles," this engaging discussion will begin at 10:00 a.m. PT.

The obligation to perform the role of “model minority” happens for various reasons ranging from an understanding that diverse professionals' actions may shape ignorant coworkers’ feelings toward an entire minority group forever, to the simple fear of giving a secretly bigoted coworker an excuse to treat them poorly. Ms. Horn and her fellow panelists will discuss the hidden stressors of succeeding as a minority voice in law, construction, and insurance, and will share their expert advice and personal perspectives. The audience will also have an opportunity to ask questions specific to their industry or experiences. CLE credits will be available for attendees in select states.

Ms. Horn is a member of Lewis Brisbois' Labor & Employment Practice. She has experience investigating harassment and discrimination claims on behalf of the Los Angeles County Equity Oversight Panel and has litigated matters in federal and state courts throughout California. She was recently chosen as an American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division (YLD) Scholar. Ms. Horn also volunteers her time with local bar associations and is on the board for Black Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles, Inc.
