Brian C. Vanderhoof is a partner in the Los Angeles office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the Products Liability, Intellectual Property & Technology, and Complex Business and Commercial Litigation Practices. His practice focuses on intellectual property litigation and complex commercial and consumer litigation.
For more than a decade, Brian has been litigating cases in the State and Federal courts of California and Nevada. Brian’s multifaceted practice is concentrated on litigation and trial work representing both plaintiffs and defendants. He has extensive experience in all aspects of federal court litigation, including preliminary injunctions, motions for summary judgment, e-discovery and trial.
Brian’s intellectual property practice derives from his representation of local and national businesses in the areas of trademark, trade dress, Lanham Act, unfair competition, false advertising, copyright, right of publicity, patent, and related business torts. In his commercial litigation practice, Brian has successfully represented corporate clients charged with misappropriating trade secrets and/or accused of intentionally interfering with another’s contractual relationship. Brian is also well-versed prosecuting and defending commercial contract claims.
On the consumer litigation side, Brian concentrates his practice on breach of warranty cases for automotive manufacturers and consumer fraud-based litigation in both state and federal court. Brian also represents and defends financial institutions from claims arising out of the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and Fair Credit Reporting Act. He also has considerable experience defending consumer claims under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) that precludes the modern use of “robocalls” and the more traditional “junk fax” cases. Brian was named Southern California “Super Lawyer Rising Star” for intellectual property litigation from 2014 through 2016, a distinction awarded to only the top 2.5 percent of young lawyers in Southern California.
