Washington, D.C. (May 10, 2019) – Washington D.C. Partners Jane C. Luxton, Karen C. Bennett, and William J. Walsh were recently interviewed by Law360 for an article titled “Lewis Brisbois Boosts DC Presence with 4 New Enviro Pros.” The trio discussed their reasons for joining the firm now and what they’re focusing on.

"It's a bigger platform than our previous law firm,” Ms. Luxton told Law360, “and it has a new Washington office that offers all kinds of opportunities to work with clients across the country and also benefit our clients with the services the firm can offer in its other locations and capabilities.”

The article highlights Lewis Brisbois’ commitment to gender equality, noting that Mses. Luxton and Bennett joined as co-chairs of the firm’s Environmental & Administrative Law Practice.

"Lewis Brisbois has had a tremendous and very impressive record for years on that," said Ms. Bennett said of the firm’s gender equality efforts. "It's not something they're just newly turning their attention to, but women in leadership within the firm is something that they strongly support and are advancing. And that was clear to us very early on when we started that conversation with them."

The article also covers the team’s previous experience and what they are focusing on now, with Mr. Walsh explaining how chemicals have become a bigger risk for companies following the 2016 Toxic Substances Control Act amendments.

"It involves getting ahead of the curve and getting information in some cases from the manufacturer and the companies that use the products,” said Mr. Walsh,” and articulating the information to EPA that they need to make their decision on whether or not there's an unreasonable risk. That's becoming more important.”

Lewis Brisbois announced the new D.C. team in a press release on April 29th.
