Chicago, Ill. (April 23, 2019) – Chicago Partners Mary A. Smigielski and Josh M. Kantrow will provide an overview course on the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA), through Lawline.com. The course will begin streaming live on Thursday, May 2 at 4:00 p.m. EDT.

The hour-long program, titled “Defense and Coverage Issues Under the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act,” will cover the history, requirements, and current landscape of BIPA litigation since the impact of the Illinois Supreme Court’s 2018 decision in Rosenbach v. Six Flags Entertainment Corporation. The course will also discuss defenses and potential insurance coverage issues under BIPA, anticipated future developments, and similar pending legislation in other states.

Ms. Smigielski and Mr. Kantrow are co-chairs of Lewis Brisbois’ growing Illinois BIPA Practice, which was formed in February 2019.
