Lewis Brisbois Boosts IP & Technology Practice with New Partner Hire in Los Angeles

Los Angeles, Calif. (April 3, 2019) – Lewis Brisbois is pleased to welcome accomplished IP litigation attorney Lawrence R. LaPorte as a partner to its national Intellectual Property & Technology Practice. Mr. LaPorte will be based in Los Angeles but will handle matters throughout the country.

Mr. LaPorte, who joins from Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP, has over three decades of experience focusing on intellectual property law and litigation for a wide variety of high-tech clients. He handles all types of IP issues, including patents, trademarks, trade secrets, antitrust and unfair competition matters, and has assisted clients in obtaining and enforcing IP rights both domestically and in foreign jurisdictions.

Mr. LaPorte’s litigation experience includes extensive preliminary injunction practice, summary judgment practice, and trial and appellate work. He also has an impressive technical background, having managed cases relating to aerospace and aviation technologies, software, light emitting diodes (LEDs), solar cells, electronic design automation tools, semiconductors, microelectronic circuits for television signal processing, and eyewear.

Mr. LaPorte received his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota, and his law degree, cum laude, from the University of Minnesota Law School. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the International Trade Commission, and all federal courts in California.
