Hartford, Connecticut (November 27, 2018) - Hartford Co-Managing Partner Angeline Ioannou was recently quoted in an article published by the Connecticut Law Tribune, part of Law.com, titled “Why Female Litigators Leave Big Law – And What Could Get Them to Stay.” In the article, Ms. Ioannou and two other successful women attorneys discuss the obstacles women in law face, the success they’ve had, and what still needs to be done.

“I see a lot of women in powerful positions in Connecticut, myself included,” said Ms. Ioannou for the article. “It is definitely increasing since I started. I think law firms, like mine, are recognizing that they need to retain their female talent more than ever. A lot of our clients are women, such as in health care, and they want to hire women attorneys.”

Ms. Ioannou also recalled a time when things were not so good: “There was a lot of patronizing 20 years ago. I can recall being asked what I did and when I said, ‘a lawyer,’ I would get patronizing responses,” Ms. Ioannou said.

She also recognized that while full equality has not been achieved quite yet, progress has been made, stating “We have not broken the glass ceiling, but we have a lot of cracks in it. We are getting there.”
