A.J. Harwin to speak at San Diego Comic-Con

Los Angeles Partner A.J. Harwin will join a panel on comic book law at the 2018 Comic Con International held July 18 to July 22 in San Diego.

Los Angeles Partner Alexander (A.J.) Harwin will join a panel on comic book law at the 2018 Comic-Con International being held July 18 to July 22 in San Diego.

Mr. Harwin will participate in “Comic Book Law School 202: ‘Someone Just Made Me an Offer. Should I Refuse?’” on July 20. The panel will address the myriad legal issues comic book writers and illustrators could face throughout the creative process. Mr. Harwin will discuss how the California Supreme Court’s recent decision Dynamex Operations W. v. Superior Court, 4 Cal. 5th 903 (2018) concerning alleged misclassification of independent contractors may impact the comic book, multimedia, and entertainment industries. Other topics include contracts, licensing, merchandising, and distribution agreements. The program is approved for 1.5 hours of California MCLE credit.
