Lewis Brisbois advises and represents attorneys, law firms, corporate legal departments, applicants to state bars, and government attorneys on attorney ethics, law practice management, and attorney regulation matters.

We represent clients in:

State Bar complaints/charges;
Attorney discipline cases;
Fee disputes;
Bar admission issues (e.g. character and fitness);
Disqualification and withdrawal motions.

Lewis Brisbois attorneys advise our clients on ethics issues including conflicts of interest, attorney advertising, multijurisdictional law practice and withdrawal from representation, among others. Lewis Brisbois represents our clients in disqualification motions, sanctions issues, and attorney-client privilege and attorney work product disputes. Our attorneys assist other attorneys and law firms in creating and dissolving law partnerships, both from a transactional and ethics standpoint, in a number of jurisdictions.

Lewis Brisbois attorneys have served on committees and commissions throughout the country on legal ethics. Raul Martinez who represents California attorneys and law firms has had the distinct honor of being on the State Bar of California Commission for the Revision of the Rules of Professional Conduct twice, from 1988-1991 and from 2001-2018. Several California attorneys have served or are serving on the Los Angeles County Bar’s Professional Responsibility and Ethics Committee including Jessica Beckwith, Ken Feldman (Chair of Lewis Brisbois' Legal Malpractice Defense Practice) and David Samani. Mark Anesh has served on the New York Bar Association Insurance Committee for the last 15 years and, in that capacity, he regularly presents on ethics matters to attorneys. Cristina Yannucci (Vice-Chair of Lewis Brisbois' Legal Malpractice Defense Practice) was a member of the Ethics Committee of the New York City Bar Association from 2013-2017. Nancy Cohen is a member of the Colorado Bar Association's Professional Liability Committee and Ethics Committee and is a previous Chair of the Colorado Bar Association's Ethics Committee.
