Lewis Brisbois Opens Mississippi Office with Experienced Litigation Team

Jackson, Miss. (July 19, 2022) - Lewis Brisbois is pleased to announce the opening of its latest office in Ridgeland, Mississippi - just a few miles north of the state's capital - with a team of two experienced litigators, Cable Frost and Bradley Smith. Mr. Frost will serve as managing partner of the new office - Lewis Brisbois' 55th location - with both partners joining the firm's National Trial Practice, as well as its General Liability, Products Liability, Complex Business & Commercial Litigation, Insurance, and Class Action & Mass Tort Practices.

Mr. Frost joins Lewis Brisbois from Wilson Elser and practices in the areas of general liability, products liability, commercial litigation, and insurance law, including first party and coverage matters. He has 20 years of experience representing corporate, construction, and transportation clients in an array of matters, as well as defending automobile, pharmaceutical, and medical device manufacturers in products liability and personal injury cases. Mr. Frost also has advised oil and natural gas companies in complex environmental matters involving regulatory, compliance, and reporting issues.

Mr. Smith joins Lewis Brisbois from Baker Donelson and brings almost three decades of experience litigating and trying high exposure matters in the automotive, products liability, mass tort, and healthcare spaces. With a long track record of securing defense verdicts in plaintiff-friendly jurisdictions in state and federal courts throughout Mississippi, Mr. Smith has coordinated the defense of more than 300 automotive product liability lawsuits in the state. He has also served as lead trial counsel for the defense of dozens of physicians, hospitals, and nursing homes, and has represented the largest medical malpractice carrier in Mississippi.

Messrs. Frost and Smith previously worked together at Baker Donelson, before Mr. Frost departed for Wilson Elser to help open that firm’s Jackson location. The team brings to Lewis Brisbois several prominent clients, including one of the largest automotive manufacturers and the largest manufacturer of roofing materials in North America.

In discussing his decision to open Lewis Brisbois' Mississippi office, Mr. Frost explained, “This is an opportunity to take Lewis Brisbois’ footprint, which is stellar in the marketplace, and grow it in the Mississippi market and the Southeast at large. I know that Brad and I are going to work well together.” Referring to his experience opening his previous firm's Jackson location, Mr. Frost added, “I know how it feels. I’m ready for it,” he said.

Similarly, Mr. Smith noted, “Cable and I made this decision very deliberately. The opportunity Lewis Brisbois has offered here is unique and will provide us with a national platform.” He added that Lewis Brisbois’ “footprint in the national litigation market” appealed to him and that he was looking forward to applying his trial and client development experience in a new setting.

Lewis Brisbois Management Committee Member Steven R. Lewis expressed enthusiasm about the duo's arrival, noting, “We are very pleased that this impressive team will be growing the firm's nationwide network. Cable and Brad are extremely talented litigators. We look forward to providing our clients with expanded service in Mississippi and beyond.”

Likewise, National Trial Practice Chair Gregory S. Katz noted, “I'm excited to welcome Cable and Brad to our National Trial team. Their trial prowess and courtroom experience will further enhance our ability to provide clients with the highest level of service in complex and high exposure matters.”

Mr. Frost earned his law degree, magna cum laude, from the Mississippi College School of Law, where he served as the Law Review’s articles editor. He earned his undergraduate degree, cum laude, from the University of Mississippi.

Mr. Smith earned his law degree, cum laude, from the University of Mississippi School of Law, where he served as the assistant editor of the Mississippi Law Journal. He received his undergraduate degree from Baylor University.
