Lewis Brisbois Data Privacy & Cybersecurity Team Bolsters Compliance Advisory Services
Indianapolis, Indiana. (June 28, 2022) - Lewis Brisbois' Data Privacy & Cybersecurity Team has made another key hire to bolster its compliance advisory services. The team has hired Partner John C. Babione, previously with Dinsmore & Shohl LLP in Indianapolis, Indiana, to add seasoned capacity for the provision of data privacy assessments, data privacy and security policy development, and numerous other proactive services. He will be affiliated with Lewis Brisbois’ Indianapolis office.
Mr. Babione is a Certified Information Privacy Professional for U.S. law (CIPP/US) and a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) through the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). In providing data privacy and security services, he relies upon over 20 years of litigation and experience in a variety of matters affecting businesses, including employee data theft and government investigations, to protect clients from liability. He will continue to advise clients on a wide range of state, federal, and international privacy law, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and the European Union General Data Privacy Regulation (GDPR).
In discussing his decision to join Lewis Brisbois, Mr. Babione explained that he is looking forward to serving clients across the country. “One of the reasons I joined the firm was because I have clients who will benefit from the nationwide footprint of Lewis Brisbois,” he said. "The data privacy team at Lewis Brisbois is known as an all-star team. To the extent I have a need that arises for a client, we will have someone with the expertise to help.”

Mr. Babione obtained his law degree from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law, and he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana University. In addition to being very involved in his community, he is a member of the Indiana Executive Council on Cybersecurity, the Indiana Security & Privacy Network, and the Information Governance & Cybersecurity Steering Committee for the Indianapolis Bar Association. He is licensed to practice law in Georgia and Indiana.
