Sharon Peters Discusses the NPDB on Podcast

Portland Partner Sharon Peters was the guest on the May 15 episode of the Healthcare Compliance Mastermind podcast, a weekly podcast devoted to current legal and regulatory issues and best practices for healthcare compliance officers.

Peters joined host Rebekah Latchis to discuss the National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB), a web-based database established by Congress in 1986 to provide information on health care professionals, including adverse clinical privileges action, medical malpractice payments, loss of license, and exclusions from federal and state health care programs. The NPDB is critical in keeping practitioners who have been disciplined accountable and serves as a flagging system in the credentialing process.
