Sarah Smith to Present at CLM Focus Conference on Legally Deficient Statutory Demands

Houston, Texas (November 29, 2021) – Houston Partner Sarah Smith will present a session on navigating legally deficient statutory demands at the CLM Focus conference in New York on December 2 at 10:50 a.m. ET.  

In a 60-minute session titled “Incomplete Demands: What to Do With an Insufficient/Deficient Statutory Demand,” Ms. Smith and her expert co-panelists will focus on various approaches taken by governing jurisdictions in regards to legally deficient statutory demands, and potential consequences for insurers. They will examine the consideration given to a legally deficient statutory demand in the event of a subsequent bad faith litigation predicated upon the insurer ignoring such demands.

The CLM Focus Conference will bring together professionals in the claims and litigation management medical malpractice, product liability and transportation industries. Hosted at the New York Hilton Midtown Hotel, the conference is open to CLM Fellows, Members and Non-Insurance Fellows.  

Ms. Smith is vice-chair of the Insurance Coverage/Bad Faith, and Marine & Energy Practices, and a member of the firm's Insurance Law Practice. She has a broad litigation background, with a focus on insurance coverage and bad faith, and routinely handles complex insurance coverage and bad faith matters, involving both commercial and personal lines.
