Phoenix Office Defense Verdict Recognized by Arizona Attorney Magazine

Phoenix, Ariz. (June 7, 2019) – A defense verdict secured by Partners Sean P. Healy and Adam S. Polson in 2018 for the City of Phoenix was recently recognized by Arizona Attorney Magazine in their “Significant Defense Verdicts” section. The monthly publication from the State Bar of Arizona lists noteworthy defense verdicts from a variety of 2018 cases in which the claimed damages at trial were exceptionally high. This verdict appeared first on the list.

In the wrongful death jury trial Erin Lembke and Billy Black v. City of Phoenix, the plaintiffs’ counsel demanded $153 million in damages for the parents of a deceased child who was struck by a City of Phoenix police officer. During the course of the trial, Messrs. Healy and Polson presented a strong defense, with assistance from Phoenix Partner Kristian Nelson, Associate Barrett Lindsey, and paralegal Amela Frazier.
