Peter Shapiro and Melissa Daugherty to Join Webinar on ADA Website Accessibility Lawsuits During the Pandemic
New York, N.Y. (May 6, 2020) – New York Partner Peter T. Shapiro and Los Angeles Partner Melissa Tara Daugherty will join a webinar panel titled “ADA Website Accessibility Lawsuits During Coronavirus,” hosted by UsableNet. This free event will take place Wednesday, May 13 at 12:00 p.m. EST.
The presenters will provide a timely update on the landscape of lawsuits involving website compliance under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and how it has been impacted by the ongoing pandemic. They will also provide predictions for the coming months and discuss what businesses can do to provide accessibility as more people increasingly rely on websites and apps for work and communication.
Mr. Shapiro is a member of Lewis Brisbois’ Labor & Employment Practice, among others. He has more than 30 years of litigation experience, with emphasis on the defense of employment discrimination, ADA access matters, non-compete, wage and hour, civil rights, trade secrets, legal malpractice, defamation, commercial, and miscellaneous professional liability matters.
Ms. Daugherty is chair of Lewis Brisbois’ ADA Compliance & Defense Practice and a vice-chair of the Labor & Employment Practice. She has extensive experience in providing employment counseling to clients, including policy and handbook drafting, and particular expertise in Title III of the ADA and litigation involving the Unruh Civil Rights Act.
