Michelle Gilboe, Scott Masterson to Discuss Civil Rights Litigation at NBA's Corporate Counsel Leadership Summit

Minneapolis, Minn./Atlanta, Ga. (July 23, 2021) - Minneapolis Managing Partner Michelle R. Gilboe and Atlanta Managing Partner R. Scott Masterson will join a panel discussion titled "Big Law in the Civil Rights Trenches" at the National Bar Association's (NBA) Annual Corporate Counsel Leadership Summit, on Monday, July 26 at 3:40 p.m. ET. The summit is part of the NBA's 96th Annual Conventions and Exhibits Conference and is open to NBA members only.

Along with Chris Stewart, Mr. Masterson and Ms. Gilboe represented the family of George Floyd, and Lonita Baker represented Breonna Taylor’s family in two of the most significant civil rights cases in recent history. The panel will discuss the unique issues associated with such high-profile litigation as well as their personal experiences handling these historic cases.

Ms. Gilboe is a chair of Lewis Brisbois' Life Sciences Practice, and a vice-chair of its Complex Business & Commercial Litigation and Products Liability Practices. An experienced trial attorney with a national practice, her skills in catastrophic injury, complex class action, and mass tort litigation allow her to guide any case to successful resolution. She has served as both national and regional counsel and has vast experience defending complex medical and scientific matters in both state and federal courts, skillfully defending her clients in multiple jurisdictions.

Mr. Masterson is a partner in the Atlanta office. In addition to significant experience in handling mass and toxic tort cases, he has extensive national experience in complex and catastrophic injury cases and is frequently retained to try difficult, high exposure and high-profile cases, having developed a reputation for getting results against challenging odds. He sits on the board of the George Floyd Community Benevolence Fund.
