Mary Smigielski to Speak on Equal Pay at National Labor & Employment “Ski & CLE” Symposium

Park City, Utah (December 16, 2019) – Chicago Partner Mary Smigielski will give a presentation titled “U.S. Soccer and Equal Pay: Lessons to be Learned in the Workplace on Pay Equity,”  at the National Labor & Employment “Ski & CLE” Symposium taking place January 8-12, 2020 in Park City, Utah.

Ms. Smigielski’s presentation will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 10, and will provide an overview of the state of equal pay in the U.S. using the pending litigation and class certification decision in Alex Morgan, et al v. United States Soccer Federation, Inc. as an example. The presentation will also cover the history and statistics of equal pay, the differences between the Obama and Trump administrations, EEO-1 reporting changes, the impact of #MeToo on equal pay, the expansion of state equal pay laws and salary bans, and how to discover and remedy pay disparities.

This event will offer interactive roundtable discussions where attendees can learn and network with colleagues in the labor & employment law space. CLE credits are available upon individual application.

Ms. Smigielski is a member of Lewis Brisbois’ Labor & Employment Practice and co-chair of its Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA) Practice. She frequently presents on equal pay and other employment law-related topics.
