Lewis Brisbois Team Beats Class Cert. Bid in OT Suit
Los Angeles Partner Jeffrey S. Ranen, Sacramento Partner Derek S. Sachs, and Los Angeles Associate Jack E. Jimenez recently defeated a motion for conditional class certification in a Fair Labor Standards Act putative class action lawsuit alleging that GlobalTranz Enterprises did not pay overtime to certain workers.
The federal district court found the plaintiffs’ declarations “vague and conclusory” and ruled that the proposed class of logistics specialists and carrier representatives did not adequately show they were similarly situated to other workers with the same job titles.
“This is a big win in the case for GlobalTranz, who has been fighting this issue in one way or another for years now,” Ranen told Law360.
