Lauren Godfrey to Present Strafford Webinar on Ransomware & Cyber Insurance

Pittsburgh, Pa. (August 23, 2021) – Pittsburgh Partner Lauren Godfrey will present a webinar titled “Ransomware, Cyber Insurance, and the GC's Role: New Executive Order, Risks Related to Payment, FBI Guidance,” on Thursday, August 26 at 1:00 p.m. ET. Hosted by Strafford Publications, an education provider for attorneys and accountants, Ms. Godfrey will be joined by a fellow cybersecurity lawyer to discuss recent ransomware attacks and the important role of cyber insurance for businesses facing such threats.

This 90-minute presentation will focus on the rise of ransomware as a multibillion-dollar criminal enterprise, and how general counsel can assist and address a company's risk when facing these attacks. Ms. Godfrey and her co-presenter will discuss the recent attacks on Colonial Pipeline and SolarWinds, and the executive order issued in May 2021 by the Biden administration instituting tech standards for businesses acting as government contractors to limit potential ransomware attacks. CLE credits will be available.  

Ms. Godfrey is a member of the Data Privacy & Cybersecurity Practice Group. She possesses the ANSI-accredited Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US) credential from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) and has extensive experience conducting initial assessments of data security issues faced by clients. An experienced litigator, she has defended trucking companies and their drivers in catastrophic injury cases across the country, business torts, personal injury lawsuits, cargo claims, and EEOC claims of discrimination.
