Karen Bennett to Speak at Legal ESG Summit on Sustainability Strategies

Washington, D.C. (September 16, 2021) – Washington D.C. Partner Karen C. Bennett will speak at the upcoming Legal ESG Summit about natural capital disclosure opportunities for the corporate sector’s net-zero goals, in a segment titled “Balancing ESG Strategies,” on October 27 at 2:45 p.m. CT.

In the 45-minute session, Ms. Bennett and her co-panelist will discuss how the trend toward global climate-related risk disclosure provides opportunities for businesses to receive credit for ecosystem restoration and mitigation through incorporation of natural capital accounting in environmental, social and governance (ESG) reporting. They will also highlight the business community’s role in educating policymakers to understand how natural capital accounting can be used to mitigate climate change impacts, and ensuring these concepts are accepted in the full range of financial, sustainability, and securities disclosures.

Legal ESG is an organization dedicated to bringing together thought leaders to address the business-critical imperative of environmental, social, and corporate governance in the legal profession.

Ms. Bennett is co-chair of Lewis Brisbois' Sustainability and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Practice, its Environment, Land, & Natural Resources Law Practice, its Administrative Law & Regulatory Practice, and its Government Relations Group. She works with clients to resolve regulatory issues, focusing primarily on permitting, compliance, litigation, and legislative policy.
