Jon Olafson to Moderate CBA "Lawyers as Leaders" Panel on LGBTQ+ Issues
Denver, Colo. (June 4, 2021) - Denver Partner Jon Olafson will moderate a panel discussion via Zoom today (June 4) at 12pm MT, titled "How to be an LGBTQ+ Affirming Organization and Ally." The program is part 5 of the Colorado Bar Association's (CBA) 7-part "Lawyers as Leaders" series.
Mr. Olafson will lead an esteemed panel that includes 21st Judicial District Judge Lance Timbreza, Arash Jahanian (Deputy General Counsel for Denver Public Schools), Jordan Blisk (Associate Director of Chapters with the American Constitution Society), and Roberta Nieslanik (Grand Junction criminal defense attorney) in discussing the LGBTQ+ community, the discrimination it still faces, and ways to create a place of belonging for all LGBTQ+ people. The panelists will also share practical tips and suggestions from members of the community and allies on how organizations can be leaders in this space.
Mr. Olafson is a member of Lewis Brisbois' Labor & Employment Practice. He currently serves on the CBA’s Executive Council as an at-large member, the Board of Governors representative for the CBA Labor and Employment Section, and on Group IV of the CBA’s Diversity Initiatives. As part of his role on the CBA’s Executive Council, Mr. Olafson also chairs the Racial Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity Committee, and he recently moderated a series of videos in his role as founder of Colorado LEADS - Lawyers Engaging About Diversity and Solidarity.
